...I'm posting this because authors (in my opinion) don't say sh*t anymore. I'm more referring to young writers who blubber foolishness in interviews about absolutely nothing. They talk about their pieces, which usually have no social importance and then ramble about a knowledge of some fantasized society they see in their minds. This of course, is not saying all writers are like this, but a lot of the authors that get the exposure have nothing to say of substance. NOTHING. Aren't writers suppose to be the leaders of culture? Check Baldwin out (around the 6 minute mark is my favorite). Come on authors, writers, artists...let's start saying something again.

love it! i've studied some baldwin while i was undergrad at NSU, and wish i seen this back when i had to read "the fire next time" --anyway, that 6 minute point... very prophetic...or maybe its just me.
