What I'm reading...

What am I reading?

The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo

Description: Brazilian storyteller Paulo Coehlo introduces Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who one night dreams of a distant treasure in the Egyptian pyramids. And so he's off: leaving Spain to literally follow his dream.

The More: The description above does not give you the most important aspect of this book. It's literally magic. As a writer I used to think the perfect book was one written that every single person could relate to and gain something from. However, now I believe the perfect book is one that changes a social setting. This book is maybe the closes thing I've read to my first 'perfect book' revelation. But beyond relating, this books speaks to everyone and anyone looking for that 'treasure' out of life, no matter what or who that treasure may be....pick it up. Oh and one more thing...as a person who grew up in a two-religion household, this book speaks to me even more because the beliefs of the characters are Christian and Islamic...and you sorta realize (if you analyze the book like I do all works) that we are all the same no matter what you call god or even if you don't call him/her at all.

This book has been on my reading list for over a year...perhaps I should bump it up a few notches.

Don't get me wrong, I love Beyonce, but I can think of a few great performers and very strong vocalists. She is in my top 5. And I wouldn't count Lauren all the way out....I have a feelin' in my bones that she will make a come back. Or maybe I am just wishful thinking.
